ABSTRACT ▼
The article represents a synthesis of theoretical foundations and methodological principles of analysis of the historical process of changing the institutional structure of the economic system. The theory of institutional change is theoretical and methodological basis of institutional reconstruction. Formation of economic institutions is the result of a combination of appropriate design and spontaneous production of norms and rules that are tested and selected in the course of economic development. The deformation of institutions, as well as preserving inefficient rules and practices are part of the process of institutional transformation. Dependence on own institutional history, the important role of the state and special interest groups determine the preservation and reproduction of inefficient institu-tions in society.
Keywords: theory of institutional change, the transformation of institutions, the historical trajectory, institutional inertia, reconstructive economic development, institutional reconstruction
