THEORY OF OPTIMUM CURRENCY AREAS: CRITERIA AND ANALYSIS OF INDICATORS CHARACTERIZING THE INTEGRATION IN UKRAINE AND CIS
ABSTRACT ▼
The article investigates the possibility of applying the theory of optimal currency area (OCA) to the evaluation of the integration process of Ukraine and justifies the choice of direction (partners and common currency). The author formulates the basic criteria for inclusion.
The article provides the results of the analysis of the dynamics of macroeconomic indicators of the development of integration processes in Ukraine by the basic criteria of OCA theory and a comparison of the calculated performance of mutual volatility of real exchange rates, volatilities and correlations of indicators of the real sector, the money supply, inflation, the relative size of economies and bilateral trade. The author investigates the readiness for integration, as well as the long term possibility of establishing a monetary union between Ukraine and the CIS countries (the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Belarus) and the countries of the Eurozone.

Interconnection between the imbalances in Ukraine’s financial sector
ABSTRACT ▼
The article presents quantitative assessments of imbalances in the financial sector and shows their connection to each other and to the government’s economic policy, which is determined by the choice of the model of socio-economic development, such as the imbalance of cash in circulation (because, in addition to Ukrainian hryvnia, the cash flow has a significant amount of foreign cash); foreign trade imbalance whose presence is indicated by the negative current account balance and gross external debt; imbalance between internal and external resources of economic development; "gaps" between savings and investments of the national economy. The author mentions the essential, according to experts of the World Economic Forum, global trends 2015 and global risks that define and limit the driving forces of the global economy, which will impact Ukraine's economy, creating new challenges and threats.

«Trust differential» and offshore level of bank capital in Ukraine
ABSTRACT ▼
The article reveals the concept of "trust differential" proposed by the author. The author reveals the distinctive features of the "trust differential" and examples of its application in socio-economic studies are given. The results of the study on offshore capitalization of Ukraine’s banking system are presented in two scenarios based on the official list of off-shore countries and financial centers by the IMF and OECD from 4 quarter of 2007 to 1 quarter of 2017. The author provides a geographic picture of offshore connections of banks operating in Ukraine. Conducted analysis of the dynamics of offshore levels calculated for different groups of banking institutions
